Lady Sinatra

So, here at Angst we've been following Los Angeles based Lady Sinatra for a little less then a year. Each and every time, they have put on solid and energetic shows that grab you by the neck till the final note.

With a growning audience, a brand new album entitled "Hisses and Kisses" and string of upcoming dates, we thought we'd formally introduce you to this months editors pick, Lady Sinatra

I had a chance to catch up with Joseph, who fronts Lady Sinatra a few days after their show at the Viper Room with The Chelsea Smiles.

Angst: Lady Sinatra, introduce yourself to the readers. Where you from, what are you about, etc, etc.

Joseph: We are 4 sweaty dudes from Los Angeles who play loud, obnoxious rock music with guitars. Half of us really like to drink whiskey. The same half love tofu, ironically.

New album is called Hisses and Kisses (available now!). Why should I replace my Nelson cd with yours?

We actually rehearse next to one of the Nelson's. I have no idea which one it is. I hope it's Gunner. Oh, the record. You should buy it cuz it has 11 songs, not 10. And we recorded it at the Foo Fighter's studio, 606, so we used all their gear so that has to count for something.

Where is it available?

At the 5 record stores that actually still exist, on iTunes, at www.loosefang.com, and at one of our gigs if yr still there at the end.

Do you have any nudie pics of those chics in your new video?

No those chicks were gnarly. Who wants to see us naked? Seeing us dressed as chicks is close enough. Except maybe Gaba, our drummer. He was WAY TOO comfortable in drag. During the shoot he biked down Hollywood Blvd in drag. It was amazing.

You guys recently played a show at the Viper Room with The Chelsea Smiles. I heard you were sucker punched outside?? Gimme the play by play.

After the show, Nic and I were headed out and some girl standing on the corner lifted her skirt and showed us her private part. We acted normally, cuz girls are always doing this sorta thing after our shows. So then this dude flies across Sunset and tries to sucker punch me, cuz it was my fault that his girl shows her vag to everyone. Now...I am not the fighting type, we are a party band, but I put duder in a headlock and was hitting him while the whole time teasing him telling him he wanted to kiss me, which was probably half true. Then he bit me and escaped. The whole thing was really funny, actually.

Haha! Vag is a pretty commen thing at Lady Sinatra shows. So what do you have coming up for the rest of this year?

We have a pretty big show with Death By Stereo at The Viper Room on Oct 29, then we head to Northern California for a few dates in November. Just working the record a little bit. We love to write, so we may pull a few more new songs out of our asses.

Are you doing that Halloween show again? For those who missed it last year it was called Monsters of Mock and Lady Sinatra was The Beatles?

No, it's not happening this year. Last year was a blast, but ALOT of hard work. The Beatles were no slackers, those songs are pretty difficult, especially when they started doing acid. I felt like I needed to do acid to keep up. Maybe someday in the future we would love to do something like that again. We did record our version of "Eleanor Rigby" though...it's the b-side of our "Hot Teeth (Cold Necks) single available on iTunes.

Remind me why I'm interviewing you again?

Cuz Nelson was unavailable?

That's right ... Flakey Nelson brothers ... Ok, So I just finished listening to your entire CD and its officially good. Good job.

Thanks man. Now burn it for 5,000 of yr friends.

Will do!
