7.30.10 | Triple Crown Records Announces New Signing PLUG IN STEREO

Triple Crown Records is pleased to announce the signing of Portland, Oregon’s Plug In Stereo – also known as 17-year-old wunderkind Trevor Dahl. This jack-of-all-trades, multi-instrumentalist with a talent for crafting easy-going, down to earth acoustic melodies is excited for this next step in his career.

“Right now, the only thing I want in life is for people to hear my music,” says Dahl. “I grew up playing in bands, but was tired of the fake, closed-minded attitudes that a lot of kids my age shared. I always had my solo/acoustic music on the side, so as I got older, my style and sound changed to a more honest and organic approach.”

By the age of 16, Plug In Stereo was touring the country and sharing the stage with the likes of Never Shout Never, The Ready Set, and Dashboard Confessional, as well as dates on the 2009 Vans Warped Tour.

After self-recording and self-releasing two EP’s, Dahl entered Engaged Audio with producer Kevin Gates (Never Shout Never, Cady Groves, The Ready Set) to record his first full-length Nothing To Something. The first digital single “Oh Darling” featuring guest vocals from Cady Groves (RCA) has scanned over 8,000 tracks in less than three months. The album will be released this fall via Triple Crown Records.

7.28.10 | THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE Set to Release New Album PINS AND NEEDLES Due Out September 14th

Following their critically-acclaimed album Walking with Strangers, THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE is gearing up for the release of their fourth studio album Pins And Needles on September 14, 2010 via Metropolis Records. Combining their interests in various musical and artistic styles, the Toronto-based synth rock band create a captivating hybrid of 80's electronica and aggressive guitars, curiously fused with cinematically dark melodic progressions. Currently on The Spectacular Massacre Tour alongside Otep, Beneath the Sky, The Agonist and River Runs Red, the band are also gearing up for their own tour this Fall.

On the new album Pins And Needles, The Birthday Massacre further refine the unique sound explored on the band's highly acclaimed previous albums: Walking With Strangers, Violet, and the classic debut Nothing and Nowhere. From the opening notes of the lead off track “In The Dark,” it's apparent that the band has created a work of which they are proud. "I LOVE this song. I love it, I love it, I love it," says vocalist Chibi of the song. "The chorus gets inside my head and plays over and over. I love some of the bitterness of the lyrics here, but to such a pretty melody. To me this song is about how fragile we all are, and how callous some people can be, about how even if you’re with someone and technically you aren’t alone – that can still be one of the loneliest places." Revisiting the infamous, unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short, better known as "The Black Dahlia", the propulsive bright pop of "Shallow Grave" belies its tragic story. "Lyrically this song references the concept of fame being found in death – that sort of romantic tragedy," Chibi continues. "But it’s a caricature, like Elizabeth Short, who wanted to be a famous actress, but only after she was horribly murdered did she achieve any fame. She was only famous because she was a tragedy, and who wants that?" The herky jerky dance rock of "Control" is a song that Chibi is excited to play live. "I love the guitars here and the vocal melody," she says. "I think live this song will be fun to play; it’s got a great tempo and energy. I will admit to having danced in my kitchen to this one."

Mixed by David Ogilvie (producer of Skinny Puppy, Marilyn Manson, Killing Joke), Pins and Needles promises to be a harder and darker experience than all previous albums, contrasted by Chibi's shining melodic vocals. The Birthday Massacre once again lead us down the rabbit hole and invite us to explore the magical wonderland it has created. Pins and Needles will be released on September 14, 2010 on Metropolis Records.

7.27.10 | COMBICHRIST will be "Making Monsters" on 9/28!

Atlanta, GA - Metropolis recording artists COMBICHRIST are gearing up for the release of MAKING MONSTERS on September 28, 2010. Recorded in Totprod Studios in Atlanta, GA and produced by Andy LaPlegua (also the mastermind behind the band), their fifth studio album takes the band beyond the aggressive techno and electro rhythms and propels them into much more primal and raw territory. "It's beyond my personal demons, and extremely honest," says LaPlegua.

Kicking off with the ominous and foreboding "Declamation", Making Monsters is a journey deep within the reaches of the mind of LaPlegua, who spent the last year, deep in introspection, as he toured four full months in Europe with Rammstein in front of hundreds of thousands of people. Diving deep into the darkest corners of his mind, he's created an album devoid of pretension and conscious thought. Fueled by expressions of lust, anger, pain and hate, Making Monsters is the sound of LaPlegua ripping out his heart and plugging its still-beating deathkicks into his music, rife with hook-heavy choruses, speaker-crushing beats, and dark aggressive vocals. The first single “Never Surrender” is bound to rule the dance floors along with other floor stompers “They” and “Throat Full of Glass”. The baretoothed aggression of “Follow the Trail of Blood” (featuring Brendan Schiepatti of Bleeding Through) will immediately become a crowd favorite while the brooding “Through These Eyes of Pain” takes a much subtler approach and shows us another side of Combichrist, that of the man inside the monster.

Starting off in the dark metal and hardcore soul of Norway, Andy LaPlegua led a few seminal bands in the Norwegian underground (including the influential Icon of Coil) before fusing electronics and dance beats and forming Combichrist in 2003 and releasing their incredibly well-respected debut The Joy of Gunz (2003). The two following albums - Everybody Hates You and What The F*&$ Is Wrong With You People? - witnessed the band's evolution and were described as "a journey through hell and high water, through the eyes of a serial killer, sex, violence and plenty of Jack Daniels on ice."

Their acclaimed last album Today We Are All Demons witnessed Combichrist expanding their audience and infiltrating the mainstream. Their first single from that album "Sent to Destroy" and its EP debuted on Billboard's Top Singles Chart at #8 and the Dance Chart at #5 and remained there for over ten weeks. "Never Surrender," the new single from Making Monsters, will undoubtedly have a similar breakthrough story.

With a tour being planned for the Fall 2010, Combichrist's much lauded and respected live shows are, as Crypt Magazine describes, "known for tons of energy, blood, and a rock n' roll attitude." BlogCritics also warns it's "not for the faint of heart - you wouldn't bring your grandmother to this show."

Making Monsters will be released via Metropolis Records physically on September 28, 2010 (digital release is slated for August 31, 2010). A national tour will be announced shortly.

7.26.10 | ELECTRIC SIX Ready to Unleash ZODIAC New Album Set for September 28th

Detroit, MI - There are many things ELECTRIC SIX is known for: awesome singles ("Danger (High Voltage)", "Gay Bar", "Down At McDonnelzz", "Formula 409"), awesome videos ("Body Shot", "Synthesizer"), and a new album every September. And this year, Electric Six will not disappoint. Their seventh studio album "Zodiac" is due out on September 28, 2010 on Metropolis Records and marks a huge evolutionary step for the band. "I think Zodiac is the byproduct of putting out one record per year," says vocalist Dick Valentine. "I think we keep ourselves so busy that we don't spend a lot of time overanalyzing what we do. So when we happen to make a record that hits on all cylinders like this one, it's immediately noticeable that we've taken a step forward."

Without losing any of its trademark sardonic sense of humor and funk/dance rock core, Electric Six have crafted an album whose cohesion is evident from the first listen and one of which the band is especially proud. "Creating this album was a little different in that we consciously tried to go for the 'Neil Diamond' approach on a couple of the songs," Dick explains, in reference to their songwriting, especially "Table and Chairs" and "I Am a Song". "I think the rest of the album didn't really veer from the methodology we have been using lately to make albums. It should be said that [lead guitarist] Johnny Na$hinal and Smogasbord wrote some of the best tracks on this record."

Tracks like the funk-heavy "American Cheese", the herky jerky dance rock of "Jam It In the Hole", and the loungy acoustic pop of "Table and Chairs", Zodiac, like its astrological namesake, appropriately contains twelve songs, each with personality traits all its own. "We don't believe in that horsesh*t," he says of the title. "The actual reason is that one of the songs we discarded from the record is called 'Typical Sagittarius.' It was a good song, but in the end, too corny... even for us. I like that the song was the impetus for us to name the record Zodiac and then we didn't even put it on the record."

Also included on the album is "Rubberband Man," their first cover since 2005's remake of Queen's "Radio Gaga". Originally recorded by legendary R&B band (and fellow Detroit natives) The Spinners, the song recalls a special memory for Valentine. "I've always loved the song and I've felt for a long time that our band could pull it off," he muses. "The first time I remember being cognizant of it was the mud wrestling scene from [the Bill Murray film] Stripes. I don't think anyone in our band is a rabid fan of Motown, per se, but I've always felt The Spinners kind of stood out in that they had much poppier songs than a lot of other acts in that genre." Electric Six's cover is a faithful remake that, unironically, speaks quite appropriately about Zodiac. "Hey, y'all, prepare yourself for the rubberband man / You've never heard a sound like the rubberband man / You're bound to lose control when the rubberband starts to jam."

Electric Six is Dick Valentine (vocals), The Colonel (guitar), Johnny Na$hinal (guitar), Smorgasbord (bass), Tait Nucleus? (synths) and Percussion World (drums). Their seventh album, Zodiac, was produced by Zach Shipps and will be released on Metropolis Records on September 28, 2010.

7.22.10 | FRAN HEALY OF TRAVIS TO RELEASE DEBUT SOLO ALBUM WRECKORDER OUT OCTOBER 5TH ON RYKO RECORDS CURRENTLY ON NORTH AMERICAN TOUR WITH KEANE

Fran Healy, lead singer and main songwriter of acclaimed Scottish rock band Travis, is excited to announce the release of his debut solo album WRECKORDER. Set for an October 5th release on Ryko, Healy's first release on the label, WRECKORDER is the work of a quintessential pop songwriter. Known for songs such as "Sing" and "Why Does It Always Rain On Me," among other hugely successful tracks, Healy has been recognized by Q Magazine, Rolling Stone, and NME, amongst others, for what Entertainment Weekly calls "a gorgeous mosaic of shimmering guitar pop." Artists such as Coldplay, Noel Gallagher, The Doves and Gomez have cited Healy's sophisticated and atmospheric arrangements as a major influence on their own sound.

To give fans a glimpse of his new release, Healy is streaming the guitar-rich first single BUTTERCUPS on Spin.com: http://www.spin.com/articles/exclusive-song-travis-fran-healy-goes-solo

Recorded in Berlin, New York and Vermont, the 10 tracks that make up WRECKORDER are as exceptionally literate as they are emotionally challenging. The collection of songs includes the Neko Case duet "Sing Me To Sleep" which bounces over warm melodies and a syncopated drum loop, the soaring "In The Morning," the playful but serious "Moonshine," and the dramatic waltz of "As It Comes" which features Paul McCartney on bass. The end result is the sound of a songwriter who embodied the spirit of Britpop and continues to artistically evolve.

Healy is currently on a North American tour with Keane. The dates will see Healy performing this new material, as well as classic Travis songs, in a solo acoustic setting. In addition, Healy will play solo acoustic shows along the West Coast. Tour dates below.

7.20.10 | NYC's NAKED HIGHWAY Turns Up the Heat with Video for "IN & OUT,
A Recreation of New Order's Iconic "Round & Round" Video

NEW YORK, NY - Not since Peaches has an artist turned electro sexuality on its head like NYC's electro-glam outfit NAKED HIGHWAY and its new album MOST HOTTEST! (Disco Life! Records). Fueled with the enough pheronome-filled beats that would make Prince blush, the new single "IN & OUT" is a funk-filled, erotic romp, not coy about its lyrics or its intentions. "Musically, it was inspired by 80's freestyle," says Naked Highway mastermind Sy Boccari. "Lyrically, I imagined myself as a modern-day George Clinton or Rick James trying to seduce a woman. I think those guys would very explicitly say, 'I wanna work you in and out' and not be all coy about it at all."

Its accompanying video is a very faithful tribute to electronic godfathers New Order and their iconic video for the single "Round & Round." "That New Order video is one of the sexiest videos ever made, even though you never see below the shoulders of the female models," he explains. "Instead of using 18 year old women models like New Order did, I used 30-something guys from the scene in New York - guys who I think are very sexy but aren't the cookie-cutter, tween-centered, pre-pubescent (ie. Justin Bieber) idea of sexy that is being shoved down our throats at the moment... go-go 'men', DJs, porn stars, party promotors and some very dear friends of mine. It's my idea of sexy." Among the men in the video are Doug Repetti (model, musician), Duane Roggendorff (party promoter, blogger), Jonny Mack (DJ, go-go 'bear'), W. Jeremy Pelser (international DJ/remixer for House of Stank), Mike Dreyden (adult film star), Reed McGowan (DJ/remixer), and assorted friends. The video can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/naked-highway.

Inspired by artists as diverse as Rufus & Chaka Khan, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Grace Jones, Depeche Mode, and Alice in Chains, Naked Highway's Most Hottest contains tracks like the gritty garage of "Rock Hard", the New Wave electro of "Shorty the Pimp" and the synthpop of "Wet Like Sweat" (each of these tracks' video received considerable spins on LOGO, Vh1 and mtvU). He explains, "We approached this album with the question,'What would happen if Rick James and Quincy Jones made a new wave dance pop album?'" The result is a genre-bending blend of club music, old-skool rap, Latin freestyle and New Wave. Rhythmic beats pulse through Splenda™-sweetened synths and guitars and provide the pillars for their signature brand of downtown attitude and showmanship.

Naked Highway has supported artists such as Darren Hayes, Kelly Osbourne, Freezepop, Hong Kong Counterfeit, Kudu, My Robot Friend, Cazwell, Nada Surf, and Massive Attack vocalist Debbie Claire. His unique fusion of dance/electronica and New Wave Rock has also created a demand for remix work from major label acts such as Rihanna (“Breaking Dishes”), Lady GaGa (“Lovegame”), and The Presets (“If I Know You”).

Naked Highway is Sy Boccari (vocals/instruments), Kimberly Koo (synths), and Lara Yaz (synths). The album MOST HOTTEST! was released Spring 2010 and is available now.

7.19.10 | LUDO GETS FRESH ON “WHIPPED CREAM,” NEW SINGLE WITH VIRAL VIDEO ON WILL FERRELL’s FUNNY OR DIE WEBSITE!

After more than two years of road work in support of their major label album debut on Island Records in 2008 – Ludo returns to the racks with their long-awaited new album, PREPARE THE PREPARATIONS, arriving September 7th. Paving the way for their new album’s release is “Whipped Cream,” a new single breaking at rock radio formats, with a viral video that was featured on the front page of Will Ferrell’s Funny or Die comedy website: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/b456441be0/whipped-cream.

With all the elements in place, Ludo will return to the road with a mammoth 29-city headlining U.S. tour, kicking off September 9th at the Metro in Chicago, concluding five weeks later on October 15th at the Eagles Club (The Rave) in Milwaukee. In advance of the big tour, Ludo will play the biannual Pointfest in their hometown of St. Louis on August 14th (with Stone Sour, Puddle of Mudd, Flyleaf), sponsored by alternative radio powerhouse KPNT 105.7, The Point.

Ludo – Andrew Volpe (vocals, guitar), Tim Ferrell (guitar, vocals), Tim Convy (Moog synthesizer, key boards, vocals), and Matt Palermo (drums, vocals) – won Best Alternative top honors at Clear Channel’s Best of NEW! 2008 Awards for “Love Me Dead,” the first Top 10 hit from their Island debut, You’re Awful, I Love You (released February 2008).

They performed “Love Me Dead” on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live and NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, then hopped onto the Warped Tour ’08 for 22 shows across North America, playing on the Hurley stage. Relient K’s Uncle Fest Tour followed in the fall (with This Providence and House of Heroes). Ludo wrapped up their premiere first year at Island Records with “Go-Getter Greg,” the second single from You’re Awful, I Love You. The album rose to #5 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and sold over 100,000 copies.

With “Go-Getter Greg” featured on AOL’s Music Mainpage, and added to FUSE's Steven's Untitled Rock Show, on mtvU, and on Music Choice, Ludo closed out the year with a very successful headlining coast-to-coast tour. They hit the road again in 2009 for the Broken Bride Tour where they resurrected their 2005 rock opera and performed it in its entirety to the delight of long-time fans nationwide. They then began the writing and recording for what would become PREPARE THE PREPARATIONS.

7.16.10 | HONOR BRIGHT STREAMING NEW ALBUM 'ACTION! DRAMA! SUSPENSE!' ON PUREVOLUME; ALBUM OUT JULY 20TH ON TRIPLE CROWN RECORDS; ADDED TO SYRACUSE, NY'S K-ROCKATHON JULY 31

Honor Bright - who’ve drawn comparisons to bands like Taking Back Sunday, Mayday Parade, and All Time Low - began in 2006, following a short-lived hardcore stint between founding front man Liam DiCosimo and guitarist/vocalist Tim Paige. “We didn’t want to just call it quits, so we decided we were going to start playing the kind of music we grew up listening to, like Green Day and MXPX. Something closer to a pop-punk sound,” explains DiCosimo. “But, because we all came from rock & roll and hardcore bands, we wanted to still have that rock edge to it.” By the close of 2006, bassist Anthony Merritt, drummer Curt Henry, and guitarist Ryan Gilmore joined the fold, solidifying the band’s lineup.

“Action! Drama! Suspense!” was produced by former A Day To Remember guitarist Tom Denney and Go Radio front man Jason Lancaster (ex-Mayday Parade). The super-catchy and fun-filled anthems that flood the new disc are punctuated by the band’s duel-vocals approach - every member contributes back-up vocals to the new songs – and crafty songwriting.

“We write our songs more like they’re conversations,” says DiCosimo. “I would say the underlying theme would be the sorts of conversations you’ll have with your friends, your band mates, your girlfriend, ex girlfriend, whatever. We’ve always wanted to make it so the songs could be accessible and people could listen to a song and equate it to their own lives. There are common themes; heartbreak, hanging out with your friends, loving what you do. These are concepts that anyone of any age can identify with.”

Honor Bright, who’ve shared the stage with The Maine, From First To Last, and Emarosa’s Jonny Craig, have appeared on MTV’s erstwhile flagship show “TRL” and have been hailed by the media, including Alternative Press (AP) and AMP magazines. AP recently named the group one of it’s “100 Bands You Need To Know” for 2010, which led the band to a prime slot on their South By Southwest showcase as well as a spot on this year’s Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey.

While the future is never predictable, Honor Bright can guarantee dedication. They want to be a band people still care about ten years from now, and will continually build upon their crisp, engaging sound. “We will always play music whether Honor Bright is the biggest band on the planet or we’re still doing small clubs just for fun,” says Paige. “Either way, we love playing music. If we can get to the point where every record we can make is more relevant than the last one and to know we’re always progressing, that would make us happy. We will write music we love that kids will be able to relate to and people will be able to relate to and enjoy.”

6.1.10 | BAD RELIGION ENTER THE STUDIO TO RECORD 15TH STUDIO ALBUM

June 1, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - Three decades after recording their first incendiary songs as teenagers reared in the budding hardcore scene in Los Angeles, Bad Religion are marking their 30 year anniversary with a new record, filled with both the free thinking ire that has fueled the band from the very beginning, and a certain introspection that comes only from long-lived experience.

"While we're celebrating our 30th anniversary as a band this year it's also a time when Greg and I have embarked on new creative pursuits which have informed our songwriting process. I'm a new parent again and Greg a new author having just completed his first book Anarchy Evolution," says Gurewitz. "So the songs are a distillation of where we've been and who we are now...a natural evolution of creativity."

Working again with producer Joe Barresi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool), Bad Religion entered the studio armed with 16 songs that are filled with deeply personal experiences, cautionary tales and a developing worldview, spanning the gauntlet from their signature high energy punk rock to a more introspective melodic sound.

"We wouldn't embark on this new creative endeavor, Brett wouldn't have embarked on parenthood, I wouldn't have embarked on writing a book, if we hadn't reached a place in our lives where we felt the confidence that we had something to offer and that's what these songs represent," adds Graffin. "They represent a new found confidence that things are starting to make sense to us."

"Being a new parent has colored my whole world," continues Gurewitz. "As a result I've written songs that at least for me, are somewhat less angsty and more introspective and vulnerable. The experience has emboldened me to take some creative risks as a songwriter that I've not allowed myself to take before."

Risks that nevertheless have already been embraced by the band's passionate fans, as evidenced by the overwhelming response to two new songs, "Resist Stance" and "Won't Somebody." The songs were debuted during a series of live shows celebrating Bad Religion's anniversary, recorded and given away as part of a free digital album, 30 Years Live, as a thank you to their fans for their support over the last three decades. Rabid fans immediately lit up blogs and message boards with raves about the new material and excitement over the new record, which will be out this fall. In the meantime, Bad Religion continue to tour the world, bringing their amazing live show to more new countries and playing more shows with each passing year.

5.11.10 | KATY PERRY SAYS ‘SUMMER STARTS NOW’!

TWO-TIME GRAMMY-NOMINATED POP SUPERSTAR LAUNCHES SIZZLING SUMMER ANTHEM “CALIFORNIA GURLS” AT RADIO

CAPITOL RECORDS WILL RELEASE PERRY’S NEW ALBUM, TEENAGE DREAM, ON AUGUST 24TH IN THE U.S. AND CANADA; AUGUST 30TH IN THE REST OF THE WORLD

TEENAGE DREAM IS THE FOLLOW-UP TO MULTI-PLATINUM STAR’S SMASH DEBUT ONE OF THE BOYS

After scoring four smash singles off her five-million-selling 2008 debut album One of the Boys, two-time Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Katy Perry returns to set airwaves ablaze with a scorching brand-new single “California Gurls,” which ignited radio with a surprise release on May 7. The single is now available for sale digitally worldwide.

An irresistible, hook-filled clarion call to throw on Daisy Dukes and a bikini top, “California Gurls” will “melt your popsicle,” Katy assures us in this party anthem of the summer. The sizzling track — a fresh evolution of Perry’s witty, sassy sound — is the follow-up to her back-to-back-to-back No. 1 chart-toppers “I Kissed A Girl”, “Hot N Cold”, and “Waking Up In Vegas” from One of the Boys.

The Santa Barbara-born Perry was inspired to write “California Gurls” as she watched her friends go crazy at a party listening to Jay-Z’s salute to New York, “Empire State of Mind.” “Everybody was holding their drinks in the air and dancing, and I thought, ‘We’re not in New York , we’re in Los Angeles ! What about California? What about all the homies, the gin and juice, the swaying palm trees, the sun-kissed skin 24-7,’” Perry recalls. “I decided that we needed to make a response. I want people to want to book a ticket to California the first time they hear it!” And because it’s practically un-American to release a song that mentions gin and juice without Snoop Dogg, Perry recruited the rap icon to contribute his inimitable vocals to “California Gurls.” “We thought it would sound so cool and give the song another dimension,” she says. “Snoop is as West Coast as it gets.”

“California Gurls” is just a taste of what’s to come when Katy unleashes her brand-new album Teenage Dream, which will be released by Capitol Records on August 24th in the U.S. and Canada; and August 30th in the rest of the world. The album is the follow-up to Perry’s blockbuster debut One of the Boys, which has been certified platinum in the U.S. and has sold five million copies worldwide. The album spawned four smash singles, including the back-to-back No. 1, Grammy-nominated chart-toppers “I Kissed A Girl” and “Hot N Cold” (both selling more than a combined eight million copies in the US), “Thinking of You” (No. 1 Airplay in five countries), and “Waking Up in Vegas” (2.3 million sold in the US and No. 1 Airplay in five countries). 4.12.10 | TAKING BACK SUNDAY BEGIN WORK ON THEIR FIFTH STUDIO ALBUM

Reformed Line Up From Band’s First Full Length Release Set To Return for a New Album, Touring

Warner Bros Records artists Taking Back Sunday have begun work on their fifth studio album. The acclaimed New York rock band has reformed, returning to the original line-up from their 2002 debut Tell All Your Friends, which has sold over one million records worldwide, spawned breakthrough anthem “Cute Without the ‘E’ (Cut from the Team)" and launched the band as one of the most influential of its generation.

Vocalist Adam Lazzara, guitarist Eddie Reyes and drummer Mark O’Connell have reunited with vocalist/guitarist John Nolan and bass player Shaun Cooper, who departed in 2003 after the release of Tell All Your Friends. “This crazy idea came up and once we started exploring it and talking on the phone it was almost like all that time hadn't passed between us,” explains Lazzara. “Given the history and the years that had passed, I don't think any of us really knew if hanging out again let alone writing and playing together would actually work. For it to feel so comfortable and effortless so quickly made us realize that we had to give it a chance.”

Nolan describes his thoughts in a similar way. “I never would have imagined that this group of people reuniting would be possible. Since we parted ways we all went down very different paths and somehow everything we've experienced individually over the past seven years has brought us back to a point of genuine appreciation and love for each other as people and musicians. There's a shared excitement and enthusiasm within this group that I haven't experienced since the early days of the band.”

Of the departure of bassist Matt Rubano and guitarist/vocalist Matt Fazzi, a statement from Taking Back Sunday’s website sums it up; “Sometimes it takes some time to remember where you were headed in the first place and the people you intended to go there with. There are no hard feelings, just the future.” Drummer O’Connell expressed that the band has nothing but kind words for the departing members. “I wish nothing but the best for Matt and Matt in the future. I know that they will succeed in whatever they choose to do.”

Taking Back Sunday will be recording their fifth studio album in Los Angeles this summer with producer Eric Valentine, who worked on their previous album Louder Now. Plans are in the works for a handful of exclusive preview shows in the near future and extensive touring as soon as the album is finished. “I’m so glad this is happening,” says Reyes, “because I can already hear something in the songs that reminds me of why all of us were so passionate about this band to begin with.”

Just the future indeed.

4.5.10 | AGAINST ME! NEW ALBUM — WHITE CROSSES — DUE FROM SIRE RECORDS ON JUNE 8th 2010

NEW DIGITAL EP, I WAS A TEENAGE ANARCHIST, AVAILABLE ON ITUNES ON APRIL 20TH - BAND ANNOUNCE UPCOMING U.S. AND EUROPEAN TOUR DATES

Florida punk band Against Me! have announced the track-listing and release date for their upcoming new album White Crosses. The album, the band’s second for Sire Records, will be released on June 8th, 2010. Against Me! will also release a digital EP titled I Was a Teenage Anarchist, which will be available on iTunes beginning April 20th, 2010. Please see below for track-listings. The video “Rapid Decompression,” recently premiered on AOL Spinner and can be viewed on the band’s website: www.againstme.net

White Crosses will be released in several configurations, including a standard CD, a limited-edition CD version, as well as a vinyl version, and an EP containing new music.

White Crosses was produced by veteran producer Butch Vig (Green Day, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins) who also produced Against Me!’s 2007 album New Wave. The decision to work with Vig again was a no-brainer. "He understands our band and brings tons of great ideas to the table,” says frontman Tom Gabel. "Beyond the stature of his past work he is also one of the most genuine people I've ever met."

Gabel began writing the songs on White Crosses more than a year and a half ago. Pre-production with Vig began in early July and the band, which also includes guitarist James Bowman, bassist Andrew Seward, and new drummer George Rebelo (formerly of Hot Water Music) began tracking in last August.

As far as the album’s overall direction, “I feel like we are constantly pushing ourselves to better what we did on the previous record,” Gabel says. “New Wave was a great album to make, and now we want to show another side of the band. The new songs feel like a natural progression of where we should be at. Our intentions, as always, are to deliver the best record we can possible make.”

Against Me! spent the past two years touring non-stop in support of New Wave, which was released by Sire Records in July 2007. Called “the most invigorating, zeitgeist-capturing rock album in years” by Spin, New Wave was named the magazine’s “Album of the Year,” and also appeared in the Top 10 on Rolling Stone, Blender, and MTV.com’s year-end “Best Album” lists. New Wave spawned two singles, “White People for Peace” and “Thrash Unreal,” which became the band’s first single to chart in the U.S. when it climbed to No. 11 on the Modern Rock chart.

3.26.10 | NEON TREES' DEBUT ALBUM HABITS EXPLODES WITH #1 DEBUT ON ALTERNATIVE NEW ARTIST CHART - AND TOP 10 OVERALL AT ITUNES!

Living up to their status in Alternative Press as one of the “Bands To Watch In 2010,” the Utah-based Mercury Records group Neon Trees - who performed last night on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live - scores an impressive #1 Soundscan Alternative New Artist chart with their first album, HABITS (in stores March 23rd), featuring their debut single, “Animal", and Top 10 Overall at iTunes, where it garnered the rare 5-star iTunes customer rating.  HABITS was driven by the Single Of The Week campaign for “Animal,” which also debuted at #1 on the Alternative Specialty Chart in its first week out in January.

Neon Trees began to receive maximum exposure in the weeks leading up to the release of HABITS, when “Animal” was featured on the January 31st episode of VH1’s new series, Secrets of Aspen.  On March 16th, “Animal” was heard on the CW’s Melrose Place.  The night before, on March 15th, the CW’s Life Unexpected featured another album track, “1983.”

The video for “Animal” - has been added to MTV2, MTVu, VH1 and FUSE. Showing off Neon Trees’ affinity for western plains friends (and fellow Island Def Jam label mates) the Killers.  It was Las Vegas band the Killers who pulled Neon Trees out of obscurity in Provo, Utah, and exposed them to tens of thousands of new fans on tour.  The dry desert vista of the “Animal” video pays homage to the Killers’ debut video, “Somebody Told Me.”

Bicoastal audiences caught their first glimpse of Neon Trees In January, when they made their New York City premiere at Mercury Lounge - followed by dates with Har Mar Superstar at Spaceland (Club NME) in Los Angeles and the Rickshaw Stop (Popscene) in San Francisco.  In between, Neon Trees played back home at the 4th anniversary bash of Provo’s Velour Live Music Gallery.  Neon Trees also appeared at this year’s SXSW (South By Southwest) Conference last week.  Neon Trees are gearing up to join 30 Seconds To Mars on the road kicking off in April.

Neon Trees - Tyler Glenn (lead vocals, keyboards), Chris Allen (guitars), Branden Campbell (bass), and Elaine Bradley (drums, vocals) - has its roots in Southern California, where Tyler and Chris were neighbors.  When Chris moved to Provo to attend college, Tyler followed him, and they were soon joined by Branden and Elaine.

HABITS, produced by the band’s friend, singer/guitarist Tim Pagnotta, is a blast of timeless rock energy and spirit that wouldn’t sound out of place at any point from ’60s garage-rock to 2010 dance rock and beyond.  “Music is a sacred act of communion for me, offering hope and love,” says Tyler. “That’s the heart of this band.”  Adds Chris, “We just want to share that feeling we got from the bands that inspired us, and then we want to pass the torch.”  For more information go to www.NeonTrees.com

Fans got a sneak peak into the recording when the show's star, Kat Von D, visited The Dear & Departed in the studio on the episode which aired in September.

The band - Smith (vocals), Cortney Miner (guitar), Darren Parkinson (guitar), Keath Moon (bass) and Jimmy Walsh (drums) - will share the stage with Alkaline Trio and Cursive in February and March, then with AFI in the UK for a string of dates in April.

Los Angeles, CA - Celebrated punk rock cult heroes, Alkaline Trio have announced the release of their forthcoming album, This Addiction, on February 23 via Epitaph Records/Heart & Skull.

Recorded and produced by the band with help from longtime cohort Matt Allison at Atlas Studios in Chicago, This Addiction marks Alkaline Trio's first release on their imprint label Heart & Skull and first with their parent label Epitaph Records.

Beginning January 5, fans can visit www.ThisAddiction.org where they will have the opportunity to stream the title track and first single "This Addiction," in exchange for a Twitter or Facebook posting. A metaphoric crowd pleaser, "This Addiction" is "about a relationship gone bad and, for some reason, you just can't quit it," Skiba told Spinner.com. The single is also currently available for sale on iTunes and at other digital retailers.

The album's title track and first single wastes no time in setting the tone of the album as it rips and roars with Matt Skiba's exceptional vocals and signature guitar riffs, bassist and co/vocalist Dan Andriano's thumping low-end and drummer Derek Grant's steadfast beats. From soon-to-be fan-favorites like the Andriano led rocker "Dine, Dine My Darling" and politically charged anthem "The American Scream" to the sonically mesmerizing rhythm and lyrics of "Dorothy" and the thrilling sing-along "Draculina," This Addiction showcases Skiba, Andriano and Grant's abounding gift for songwriting and crafting passionate punk fueled rock that will make fans fall in love with them all over again.

"I think that we wanted to make a punk rock record that we've been describing as 'thinking-man's punk,'" said Skiba. "We wanted to do something that's fun but also interesting and lyrically, something that will be fun for people to read along to and hopefully understand."

The band's seventh studio album, This Addiction, will be available as a standard CD, a limited Deluxe CD/DVD edition (containing two bonus songs, four acoustic tracks and a full length concert DVD), as well as Gatefold LP vinyl. Epitaph will also have exclusive items signed by the band, rare vinyl and Limited Collector's bundles - all with a standard digital download or a Deluxe Digital Download.

Alkaline Trio first emerged from Chicago in 1996 and has since released the full length studio albums Goddamnit, Maybe I'll Catch Fire, From Here To Infirmary, Good Mourning, Crimson and last year's Agony & Irony, which was the highest charting record for the band's to date. The band is comprised of Skiba, Andriano and drummer Derek Grant, all of whom are partners in Heart & Skull.

It is the only place to watch over one hundred of the most talked-about bands in pop, punk, rock rap and more perform live on one massive bill. In addition to all of the great music, Bamboozle California 2010 will also feature exciting carnival rides, tasty food and drink, the world-famous vendor village, band merch plus lots of exciting surprises.

11.24.09 | PIERCE THE VEIL To Record "Most Anticipated" Album This Winter With Producer Mike Green

Pierce The Veil have been relatively quiet since the conclusion of last winter’s Rockstar Taste Of Chaos but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been making noise. The San Diego quintet – brothers Vic Fuentes (vocals/guitar) and Mike Fuentes (drums), as well as Tony Perry (guitar), and Jaime Preciado (bass) – have been writing and recording demos at a home studio for the follow-up to 2007’s A Flair For The Dramatic. The forthcoming sophomore album has been declared one the “Most Anticipated of 2010” by Alternative Press.

“When we got home from Taste Of Chaos, we set up our home studio here in San Diego and started working on the new album,” Vic told Alternative Press in September. “We haven't taken any breaks or any time off. It's just been straight writing every day as much as we can.”

The band also set up a weekly online chat show called “I’d Rather Be Touring” at LiveStream.com where the band caught up with fans and discussed their progress.

“Touring so much over the last couple years, we have grown very close to our fans and this was a great way to keep in touch with them. Their excitement has been very inspiring to us and has given us even more incentive to try and make the best record we can.”

In addition to the inspiration they’ve gained from fans, Vic says another major influence on the songwriting is having played shows for 3 years straight. “We want to make songs that are fun to play live. We’re writing with our fans in mind and with the shows in mind that we’re going to be sharing with them.”

To achieve this goal, Pierce The Veil will enlist Mike Green (Paramore, The Matches) for the role of producer and record at his studio in Los Angeles in December and January. “His records sound amazing and he is a very down to earth and passionate person,” Vic explains of their decision. “We wanted to work with someone that has the same love for what they do as we do. We have 100% confidence that we can make a very special album with Mike.”

10.27.09 | Grammy Nominees AS I LAY DYING Wins for Best Music Video for “The Sound of Truth” at the Hollywood Film Festival!

The 13th Annual Hollywood Film Festival's "Hollywood Awards" ceremony was held last night before a standing-room-only audience of over 1,100 Hollywood Film Festival attendees at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The winners of the festival's film competition were announced Sunday night at the "Hollywood Discovery Awards Presentation Ceremony at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood. This year's winners are: "CROSSING" by Kim Tae-kyun -- Best Feature Film; "GARBAGE DREAMS" by Mai Iskander -- Best Documentary; "SCENESTERS" by Todd Berger -- Best Comedy; "STORIES FROM THE PERCH" by Andrew Zimbelman -- Best Animation, "LAMBS" by Stephen Huff -- Best Short Subject, "AS I LAY DYING - THE SOUND OF TRUTH" by Brian Thompson -- Best Music Video.

AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis comments on the win “The Sound of Truth video could not have been made without an entire team of amazing people. It was a combination of two individually complex forms of art that came together seamlessly to create one great video I'm very proud of. The basic concept is related to the music and lyrics that we wrote, but Brian Thompson and his whole crew took that beyond what we could have imagined.”

Directed by Brian Thompson, who helmed their futuristic clip for "Nothing Left," the video for "The Sound of Truth" was made at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA and is a continuation of the story the first video initiated. Like its predecessor, the story for this video was conceived by the band, fine-tuned by director Brian Thompson, and displays the irony and hypocrisy that takes place in a decaying futuristic society.

10.12.09 | Owl City -- Announces Early 2010 Tour Dates. Exclusive Ticket Pre-Sale for US Shows at MySpace 10/16-10/23

Owl City announces his first few weeks of 2010 tour dates in support of his incredibly successful label debut – Ocean Eyes – out now on Universal Republic . MySpace will offer an exclusive ticket pre-sale beginning October 16th and running through October 23rd for the tour dates. The tour kicks off January 21st at the Beaumont Club in Kansas City , MO and sees Owl City with full band in tow heading through the Midwest , Southeast and up the East Coast through mid-February. The short US tour will include special guests Lights and Deas Vail and sees the band hitting some of the smaller markets not visited this past fall. In addition, the 2010 dates come on the heels of Owl City ’s first trek to China and Japan and comes before the band will make their live debut in Europe as well as Australia where they’ll be hitting the road with Cobra Starship.

Adam Young started Owl City in the basement of his parent’s house in the small town of Owatonna , MN. He began capturing the hearts and ears of many with his first self-released, digital EP Of June back in 2007. Soon after, in 2008, he self-released the digital full-length Maybe I’m Dreaming and quickly became a MySpace phenomenon. He amassed millions and millions of plays and profile views and the word began to spread. The excitement was building for his Universal Republic debut Ocean Eyes and sales were amazing out of the gate with the album debuting at #27 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. Having not played out before February 2009, Owl City hit the road and soon spring and fall tours were completely sold out as fans clamored to see the live versions of their favorite songs. Along with the omnipresent hit “Fireflies,” the sky is now the limit for Owl City .

10.7.09 | KEANE - Hopes and Fears - Deluxe Edition

On May 10th, 2004 Interscope Records released ‘Hopes and Fears’, selling over 5.8 million copies worldwide, and landing a top 10 spot on the Billboard 200. The album was also voted one of the “Best British Albums” ever in a Q Magazine/HMV poll, the first of two Keane albums to feature in the Top 20*.

Over the course of ten years as an unsigned band, Keane had written what was to become one of the classic albums of our time, and one of the last multi-million selling albums of this generation. It marked a triumph for the three boys from Battle in East Sussex, but it was a success not without controversy.

As a debut record, it stood alone in its originality. The absence of any guitars, a powerful, almost operatic vocal delivery, and a wall of melodic sound made solely from pianos, keyboards and a set of drums. The emotion of the record gave a voice to millions. The landscape at the time was awash with new bands from across the Atlantic, and it took Keane and ‘Hopes And Fears’ to bring all the attention back to British talent. The song writing talent of Rice-Oxley, now world renowned, reaped an Ivor Novello in 2004 for Best Composer of the Year.

Yet despite having written a record that united so many different people from all walks of life across the globe, its sudden phenomenal success almost tore the lifelong friends apart.

For with its undisputed accolades, it quickly changed the band’s lives and threatened not only their long-standing friendships, but the career of Keane as well. Having fought against the grain for a decade around the country’s backroom bars in the back of a van, this sudden shot to fame for Keane transformed the very dynamics that had reaped them these rewards in the first place.

This sweetest of victories could have turned remarkably bitter, but it created an edge and strength of resolution that had pulled Keane through from day one, and has subsequently set the tone for their future releases and successes ever since.

In addition to the original tracklisting this deluxe album showcases previously un-released and rare material including early demo ‘Into The Light’, recordings from the band’s earliest Steve Lamacq and Jo Whiley radio sessions, the timeless b-side and fans favourite, ‘Snowed Under’ (from ‘Somewhere Only We Know’), and their debut self released singles.

The sleeve notes have been penned by long-time supporter Steve Lamacq where he describes the first time he caught them at the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town, “there were only three of them but they sounded huge. They were independent of mind but definitely accessible”.

10.01.09 | illSCARLETT ON US TOUR; BAND ON THE ROAD WITH PEPPER. NOVEMBER DATES WITH BIG D AND THE KIDS TABLE ANNOUNCED. FIRST US RELEASE EPdemic ON SALE AT SHOWS. FULL LENGTH DUE IN EARLY 2010

Canada's reggae-enthused illScarlett feels like a mix of Sublime meets No Doubt with a dash of Goldfinger thrown in for good measure. A cast of chill characters raised on their parents’ Beatles and Queen records, and influenced by the likes of Nirvana, Incubus, Beck, The Police, and Foo Fighters, the Mississauga , Ontario , Canada natives built the initial framework for illScarlett’s infectious sound, perfect for fist-pumping punk/pop/reggae jams, by cultivating, shaping and finessing their songs into their own signature creations.

They could be described as a rhythm and reggae influenced, filthy dub band that takes no prisoners, but just go to an illScarlett show and you'll find a slew of sweaty, screaming kids who are fans of hip-hop, punk and emo, charged full of frenetic energy, jumping off the stage and rolling in the pit.

Currently on tour with like-minded party bros Pepper, and soon to hit the road with Big D & The Kids Table, illScarlett is winning over new fans every night. While on this most current trek the band is selling its first U.S. release, EPdemic.

When singer Alex Norman and drummer Swav Pior met in high school and started their band they had two choices - wait around on the off chance that some A&R guy was actually going to recognize talent, or take the bull by the horns and do it themselves. They chose the latter, adding compadres John Doherty (bass) and Will Marr (guitar) to complete their vision. Together they played hundreds of shows around the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), starting with a handful of faithful fans that amassed into crowds numbering over 1,000 in what seems like the blink of an eye.

The band recently finished its latest recording effort entitled 1UP! in Hollywood with three-time Grammy-winning producer Robert Carranza (Jack Johnson, Mars Volta, Beck, Ozomatli, Mindless Self Indulgence). The new album is now available in Canada.

With well over 2 million MySpace plays (30,000+ Friends, 1.7 Million views) and over 60,000 illScarlett records sold to date in Canada, the band has set the stage for an exciting Fall tour with an upcoming U.S. album release in the New Year.

9.23.09 | MUSE’S THE RESISTANCE DEBUTS AT NO. 1 ON THE ALTERNATIVE, ROCK, AND INTERNET ALBUM CHARTS IN THE U.S.

BAND’S FIFTH STUDIO ALBUM ENTERS THE BILLBOARD ALBUM CHART AT NO. 3, MARKING THEIR HIGHEST U.S. DEBUT EVER.

Burbank, CA – The Resistance — the new album from British rock trio Muse — debuts at No. 1 on the Alternative, Rock, and Internet album charts, and No. 2 on the Overall Digital Album chart this week. In addition, Muse have scored their highest-ever U.S. debut on the Billboard album chart with the No. 3 bow of their fifth studio album, which sold 128,481 copies (the band’s best-ever sales week) in its first seven days of release and No.1 on the top 200 Canadian albums chart. Muse’s previous album, 2006’s gold Black Holes and Revelations, peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard album chart.

The Resistance is also an international smash with 16 No. 1 debuts around the world, including Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, and the U.K., where the album sold close to 150,000 copies, making it the best-selling album by a UK artist this year.

The Resistance’s impressive chart debut is due in part to Muse’s stunning live appearance on the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on September 13th where the British rock trio performed their No. 1 Alternative Rock radio hit “Uprising.” Another track from the album, “I Belong To You,” has been confirmed for inclusion on the upcoming soundtrack to the motion picture New Moon.

“The Resistance is, by and large, a fantastic record, culminating in a three-song suite that finds the group jumping from classical movements to guitar fretwork to sweeping, swaggering, operatic rock,” says Allmusic.com, while the Guardian writes: “there's something unrepentant in The Resistance's insane ambitiousness that demands respect.”

The Resistance was produced by Muse and mixed by famed audio engineer Mark ‘Spike’ Stent. The band, which is vocalist/guitarist Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dom Howard, will be special guests at select shows for U2, including two shows at Giants Stadium in New York, on September 23rd and 24th. The band have been nominated for two Q awards, which will be handed out in London on October 26th.

For the last few years, Muse have played to sell-out crowds throughout the U.S., Asia, Australia, and Europe. In the U.S., the band, who hail from the tiny town of Teignmouth in Devon, England, performed at the Lollapalooza Festival, the Austin City Limits Music Festival, Las Vegas’s Vegoose Festival, and KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas and sold out New York City’s Madison Square Garden and The Forum in Los Angeles.
